iPhone 16 full range of models available: standard version has major rear camera changes

iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max

Let’s first look at the Pro version. Although the overall appearance continues the previous generation, there are still some major upgrades, including further narrowing of the black borders of the screen, which refreshes the historical record of the mobile phone industry.

Specifically, the black border of iPhone 16 Pro is only 1.2mm, and the black border of iPhone 16 Pro Max is only 1.15mm, making it the narrowest in the world.

This is mainly due to the new BRS narrow bezel technology, which makes the bezel narrow. At the same time, thanks to this, the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro series has increased by 0.2 inches with slight changes in the body size.

The iPhone 16 Pro is 6.3 inches, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 6.9 inches, but the Smart Island has not changed.

Another major change is the addition of an independent photo-taking button, located below the power button. Apple uses a special capacitive touch button, which cannot be pressed physically, but simulates vibration through a motor.

This button can even achieve zoom by sliding left and right, greatly improving the imaging properties of the Pro series.

In terms of specific imaging specifications, the iPhone 16 Pro series will be equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera as standard, supporting 5x optical zoom and OIS optical image stabilization.

iPhone 16/Plus

Compared to the Pro series, the standard version has bigger changes in appearance this time. The rear camera arrangement has been greatly changed. The matrix solution used since the iPhone 11 has been cancelled. The dual cameras are directly arranged vertically, which makes the overall look simpler.

This change is made to enable spatial video recording, so that the main camera and ultra-wide angle camera are on the same horizontal line when held horizontally.

The internal hardware has also been upgraded. The iPhone 16/Plus will be upgraded to a 48-megapixel main camera for the first time. The sensor is IMS803, which is the same as the iPhone 15 Pro. The ultra-wide-angle camera is also 12 million pixels, the same as the iPhone 15 Pro.

In addition, an independent photo-taking button has been added to the Pro model, which uses pressure-sensitive touch operation.

The other appearance design and screen size are exactly the same as the previous generation, and the body dimensions are also completely consistent.

Core Configuration

This time, the iPhone 16 series will not be directly equipped with the next-generation chip like the previous generation. The iPhone 16/Plus will be equipped with the A18 chip, and the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max will be equipped with the A18 Pro chip. Both are built using TSMC’s 3nm process.

The entire series has 8GB of memory as standard. It is rumored that Apple was forced to upgrade this time because the Apple Intelligence large model, the core highlight of iOS 18, consumes too much memory and requires at least 8GB to use normally.

It is worth mentioning that since the iPhone 16/Plus has also upgraded to a 48-megapixel main camera, the storage will start at 256GB this time, which is finally no longer useless.
