Nubia recently unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the Nubia Flip, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), marking a significant entry into the foldable phone market. The device, which had already been certified for use in China, is now revealed through its certification photos and is expected to launch domestically soon.
The Nubia Flip’s design for the Chinese market mirrors that of the international version, maintaining consistency in appearance and specifications. It features a 6.9-inch foldable display with a resolution of 2790×1188, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming for optimal viewing comfort.
The back of the phone sports a familiar design, including a 1.43-inch circular external screen with a resolution of 466×466. This external display allows for selfie previews using the main camera and provides convenient access to weather updates, notifications, and controls for recording and music playback.
For photography, the Nubia Flip is equipped with a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front camera offers 16MP for high-quality selfies.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, accompanied by options of 8/12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage. Despite its foldable nature, the device boasts a slim profile at 7mm thickness when unfolded and weighs 209g. It houses a 4310mAh battery, supporting 33W fast charging.
A key selling point of the Nubia Flip is its affordability. With an international price tag of just $599, it’s poised to be the most budget-friendly foldable smartphone on the market. Considering the competitive pricing of similar devices like the Moto Razr 40 foldable screen, which starts at 3999 RMB in China, the Nubia Flip’s domestic launch price could potentially be even lower.
This aggressive pricing strategy aims to lower the entry barrier for foldable technology, making it accessible to a broader audience eager to experience the innovation of foldable smartphones.
