Honor’s new small folding screen phone will be released next month and will be named after the Magic series: Magic is not a waste

Are all small folding machines “beautiful little pieces of junk”? This inherent perception may soon change.

At the MWC World Mobile Communications Conference in February this year, Honor CEO Zhao Ming revealed for the first time that Honor is preparing for the release of the Flip small folding phone and has entered the final stage internally. Since then, there have been continuous leaks about Honor’s small folding phone, especially after the news that the new phone will be equipped with the industry’s largest external screen was exposed, it once attracted concentrated attention from the outside world.

On May 30, the well-known blogger @数码闲聊站 broke the news again: “The Honor Small Fold will be launched next month, and it will be named after the Magic series.” The blogger also added that the small foldable phone has the largest battery and the largest external screen in the industry, and can be folded a lot more times, and there will be a joint name this time.

“Magic series? Doesn’t everyone say that Xiaozhe is a beautiful little waste?” another blogger commented, and manually @ed Jiang Hairong, CMO of Honor Terminal Co., Ltd. in China.

Unexpectedly, this comment received a reply from Jiang Hairong: “It has magic, it’s not trash.” These six words not only show the difference of Honor’s small foldable, but also fully reflect Honor’s confidence in entering this new market segment.

It is worth mentioning that on May 27, in a media group interview after the Honor 200 series new machine launch conference, Honor CEO Zhao Ming talked about the upcoming Honor small folding new product. He said that the reason why some brand manufacturers gave up the evolution and development path of small folding phones is because they did not fully present the characteristics and advantages of small folding phones.

“What other unique features can be explored in Xiaozhe? How can we present more special value? I think that we often lack imagination and the value exploration is not enough.”

Zhao Ming emphasized, ” In order to create a unique and distinctive value proposition, Honor has done things differently from others in many areas. You will find that more and more people are following us. This time, we are also thinking and conceiving our solutions for small discounts based on this logic.”

In fact, as a high-end model of Honor’s mobile phone system, the Magic series has always represented Honor’s top technology . Since the Honor Flip is named after the Magic series, it is naturally empowered by all of Honor’s current top technologies, and a series of earlier revelations also support this . For example, Honor’s exclusive Qinghai battery technology, high-strength panel glass technology, and excellent hinge design technology can all empower the Honor Flip to eliminate the long-standing pain points and chronic diseases of the Flip, such as poor battery life, obvious creases, weak hinges, and easy damage. At the same time, the thickness is expected to be the thinnest in the industry, taking into account both lightness and battery life, and improving durability, changing the inherent perception of the Flip as a “beautiful little waste”.

If you observe the development history of Honor’s folding screens in the past, you will find that Honor likes to “strike first after being late”. It will not rush to grab the first place before it is well prepared. It will only attack after it has identified the direction of truly solving the pain points of user experience and has accumulated experience. From July to October last year, Honor took the lead in launching a “three-hit attack” in the field of large folding screens. Honor Magic Vs2, Magic V2, and V Purse form the “three horses” of Honor’s thin and light large folding, occupying the high ground of folding screens.

IDC data shows that driven by Honor Magic V2 and other folding screen family products, the share of Honor’s folding screen mobile phones has increased by as much as 675.4% year-on-year since last year, with a market share of 26.7%.

Given the achievements and results of the Honor Magic series in the large folding market, and the addition of a small folding model to the family, we have every reason to be optimistic that Honor will once again change the small folding market. The competition between it and Huawei Pocket 2 over the size of the external screen will also become the biggest highlight of the future small folding phones.
