Huawei launches a new 8.8-inch giant-screen phone! The MatePad Mini also comes in Phantom Purple

Fast Technology reported that blogger “Kanshanshu” has teased that the Huawei MatePad Mini series will soon receive a new Phantom Purple color option. This update will release two versions: a 12+256GB Phantom Purple Reading Edition and a 12+256GB Phantom Purple Reading Edition with a Soft Light Screen.

Purple has always been a signature color of Huawei’s Master series, appearing on everything from the latest Huawei Mate 80 RS Master to the Huawei Watch Master. The addition of Phantom Purple to the MatePad Mini clearly aims to emulate the Master series in terms of aesthetics, maximizing the recognizability of this small tablet.

According to reports, Huawei launched the MatePad Mini series last September, which garnered considerable attention for its excellent screen quality. It features an 8.8-inch flexible OLED screen that supports P3 wide color gamut, a 120Hz high refresh rate, and a 2.5K ultra-high resolution, with a peak brightness of up to 1800 nits.

Although positioned as a small-sized tablet, the MatePad Mini features SIM card insertion and call functionality. It’s precisely because of this call-making capability that many netizens affectionately call it a giant-screen phone.

As a tablet supporting Lingxi communication, the MatePad Mini not only boasts robust cellular connectivity but also features high-speed Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. The higher-end Collector’s Edition even includes two-way BeiDou satellite messaging, meaning users can maintain seamless communication with the outside world, whether deep in the mountains or in the desert, providing a high level of security for outdoor adventures and travel.

Currently, the Huawei online store shows the MatePad Mini starting at 3299 yuan. For users who prioritize portability, high performance, and call quality, the upcoming Phantom Purple color option undoubtedly offers another highly attractive choice.
