One UI 7 Brings Now Bar to Even Affordable Samsung Phones

Samsung’s newest software update, One UI 7.0, based on Android 15, is introducing a feature that’s bound to enhance usability – the Now Bar. This handy widget, located at the center-bottom of the lock screen, provides quick real-time details on ongoing activities like music playback, timers, or voice recordings.

Initially available on the Galaxy S25 and the beta version for the Galaxy S24, it was unclear whether this feature would extend to Samsung’s more affordable devices. However, new leaks confirm that Samsung has plans to roll out the Now Bar to entry-level models like the Galaxy A06 5G, proving this feature won’t remain exclusive to flagship models.

Now Bar on Affordable Devices

A recent leak from Samsung’s internal training documents for the Galaxy A06 5G revealed a key visual showing the Now Bar on this budget device. This suggests that One UI 7 will bring the Now Bar to all Galaxy phones, including the most inexpensive ones. It’s a big step for Samsung in ensuring that premium features are accessible across its entire smartphone range.

The Galaxy A06 5G itself is one of Samsung’s most wallet-friendly 5G phones, making its ability to run advanced features like the Now Bar an encouraging sign.

Rollout Delays for One UI 7

While these updates are exciting, Samsung has yet to release the stable version of One UI 7 for eligible devices besides the S25. This delay is a departure from Samsung’s usual rapid rollout schedule, often delivering Android updates not long after Google’s official release. Samsung claims this lag is due to the company wanting to push the boundaries with its new software, which is taking extra time.

The delay has disappointed some Samsung users, but there is a silver lining – despite the late arrival of One UI 7.0, reports suggest the company plans to stay on track to release Android 16-based One UI 8.0 right on schedule, which is anticipated next year.

What to Expect

The inclusion of the Now Bar across Samsung’s product lines, regardless of price point, shows their commitment to enhancing the user experience for all customers. With additional features and continued software optimizations, One UI 7 is shaping up to be a significant upgrade once it fully rolls out.

Highlights:

  • The Now Bar widget, offering task and activity updates, will now be included on budget devices like the Galaxy A06 5G.
  • One UI 7 rollout has been delayed, with Samsung citing efforts to make significant improvements as the reason.
  • Despite the slowdown, Android 16-based One UI 8.0 is expected to launch on time.

Although higher-end devices have already provided a glimpse into the benefits of One UI 7, more users across Samsung’s ecosystem can look forward to accessing these valuable features soon.
