Preview of new products at Apple’s fall conference on September 10

Apple’s 2024 Fall New Product Launch Conference has been scheduled for 1 a.m. Beijing time on September 10. The conference will still be held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, with the theme of “It’s glowtime”.

It is reported that the new hardware products at this conference mainly include: 
iPhone 16 series, the new generation of Apple Watch and the new AirPods. In addition, news related to Apple Intelligence has also attracted much attention.

First up is the iPhone 16 series . As usual, Apple will launch four new models: iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max.

Among them, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be equipped with the new A18 chip, and the memory will be upgraded from 6GB to 8GB, which will help support Apple Intelligence and other functions.

The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are equipped with the more powerful A18 Pro chip , which has an enhanced neural engine and is optimized for AI. They also support Apple Intelligence and are equipped with 8GB of memory.

The focus of Apple’s imaging upgrade this time is still the Pro series . The screen sizes of iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have increased from 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively, and the borders will be narrowed by about 1/3, making the overall appearance more stylish.

The cameras of both Pro models will be upgraded, including an upgrade from a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera to a 48-megapixel one. The iPhone 16 Pro’s telephoto lens will also be upgraded to 5x optical zoom, matching the Max version.

In addition, there is another obvious change in the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max: a capacitive button will be added on the right side of the phone, which works similarly to the shutter button of a SLR and is used for taking photos and videos. In addition to AI, this button will be the biggest selling point of the new iPhone.

In terms of color matching, the Pro version will use gold titanium instead of blue titanium ; while black, white and natural titanium will remain unchanged.

The non-Pro version will replace white with yellow, and will be available in new green, pink, and blue colors.

As for the Apple Watch, this time there will be a new low-end Apple Watch SE, a mid-range Series 10, and a high-end Ultra 3.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Apple Watch, and among the three products, Apple Watch Series 10 has the biggest upgrade . Its overall design will be similar to Apple Watch Series 9, with a larger screen size and a more compact body.

Apple Watch Series 10 will add a sleep apnea detection function , which may not be supported immediately when it is launched, and is expected to be implemented through later OTA. In addition, Apple plans to introduce high blood pressure detection function to Apple Watch this year, but there are signs that this function has been delayed and will not be released immediately.

At this conference, Apple will also launch AirPods 4, which is said to have two versions, which will replace the AirPods 2/3 currently on sale . Among them, the standard version of AirPods 4 replaces AirPods 2, does not support wireless charging, and uses passive noise reduction, while the enhanced version replaces AirPods 3, supports wireless charging and active noise reduction. Both versions of AirPods 4 are expected to support spatial audio and use a USB-C interface.
