Samsung Galaxy A77 Appears on Geekbench, Launch Expected Soon

The Galaxy A7x line from Samsung seemed to have been put on hold after the release of the A73 in 2022. Since then, there haven’t been any new models in this part of the A series, and it seemed like the line was discontinued. However, recent reports suggest that Samsung is preparing a comeback with a new model called the Galaxy A77, which could mark the return of the popular A7x line.

A prototype of the Samsung Galaxy A77 has appeared in the Geekbench online database. According to the listing, it comes with 8GB of RAM and runs on Android 16. It also has a new, unknown chipset that appears to be related to Samsung’s Exynos 2400 and 2400e processors. Based on how the CPU is clocked, this chipset seems to be less powerful than either the Exynos 2400 or the 2400e, which means it’s likely a more budget friendly option.

The chipset in this prototype features a ten-core CPU. It includes three Prime cores with a maximum speed of 2.78GHz, three performance cores running up to 2.3GHz and four efficiency cores running up to 1.82GHz. While it keeps the same deca-core layout as the Exynos 2400 and 2400e, the clock speeds are lower indicating that it won’t perform as strongly as the higher-end Exynos chips.

Looking at the specifications, this processor seems well-suited for an upper-midrange smartphone but it probably wouldn’t be able to compete with a full flagship device. Samsung might be using lower-tier versions of the Exynos 2400 family that they already have, which is a smart way to reuse existing hardware while still providing solid performance for a midrange device.

At the moment, no additional specs for the Galaxy A77 have been shared. However, if the phone is scheduled to launch alongside the Galaxy A57, which recently appeared in a Geekbench test earlier today then it could be expected to arrive around March. We can expect to hear many more details about the A77 in the coming weeks leading up to its launch.
