Samsung continues to make steady progress on One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The first test build appeared on the company’s servers in September, marking the beginning of internal testing. This suggests that Samsung is moving closer to a finalized release.
The upcoming One UI 8.5 update will make its debut in 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup. Once the new flagships hit the market, Samsung will begin extending the update to older models. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected to be among the first older devices to receive it. The update will bring refined features and performance improvements across the lineup.
Samsung had initially planned to launch the One UI 8.5 beta program in November. However, with reports suggesting a delay in the Galaxy S26 launch, the beta rollout may also be postponed. Even so, Samsung is still expected to begin the beta phase before the end of the year, as development continues to progress steadily.
The upcoming One UI 8.5 update is expected to emphasize visual enhancements and design refinements. Early information from leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra firmware suggests that Samsung may be drawing inspiration from Apple’s Liquid Glass UI aesthetics. The new interface could introduce greater fluidity and a more polished visual experience. However, since the software is still in development, the final design could differ significantly once released.
