The Huawei Mate XT 2 tri-fold design will support health monitoring features: no watch/band required.

Huawei has officially announced the new generation of the Mate XT 2 tri-fold folding camera, which will be officially released on September 7 at 14:30.

According to blogger “RuryRen”, the Mate XT 2 will include a health monitoring function that can directly detect body data without the need for a watch/band.

The Pura 90 Pro previously featured a similar technology that allowed users to place their finger in the flash area to measure heart rate.

This solution mainly uses a rear-mounted flash and a sensor. When a finger is placed on the flash area, blood flow changes are collected using the photoplethysmography principle. Resting heart rate data can be output in just over ten seconds, and the measurement results are stored in the sports health database.

It is expected that the Mate XT 2 will continue to use this technology, enabling health monitoring anytime, anywhere.

In addition, the design of the Mate XT 2 itself is also very interesting. It adopts a brand-new U-shaped folding solution, which is somewhat similar to Samsung’s G-shaped design, except that the folding order is reversed. Fold the left side first, then fold the right side. After folding, the screen is completely wrapped inside the body, greatly improving protection.

Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate XT 2 is equipped with an independent external screen, which can be used to make and receive calls, quickly reply to messages, or scan codes to make payments without unfolding the large internal screen, greatly improving the convenience of daily operation.

In terms of hardware configuration, leaks suggest that the Mate XT 2 will be equipped with the Kirin 9050 series flagship chip, which is the world’s first mass-produced mobile phone chip with logic folding technology.

Huawei explained that the new Kirin chip achieves a significant increase in transistor density by 53.5%, allowing 238 million transistors to be integrated per square millimeter of chip area. Theoretically, this is on par with Intel’s 18A process and close to TSMC’s first-generation 3nm process.
