Xiaomi Mi 17 Pro debuts with the Light Hunter 950L sensor. Lu Weibing: The King of Backlight

Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing preheated the Xiaomi 17 Pro series, which is code-named “King of Backlight”. It is equipped with Leica’s new imaging system, the first Light Hunter 950L image sensor, and LOFIC high dynamic technology, achieving an ultra-high dynamic range of 16.5EV, as well as a grand slam of optical coatings, which greatly improves the problems of ghosting, fogging, and glare.

It is reported that the full name of LOFIC technology is Lateral OverFlow Integration Capacitor, and its basic principle is to place a high-density capacitor on each photodiode of the mobile phone image sensor to collect photoelectrons that might have overflowed due to saturation.

In this way, when the number of photoelectrons converted by the photodiode exceeds the maximum limit it can carry, the excess photoelectrons will flow into the adjacent capacitor instead of being “overexposed” due to overflow. This allows the sensor to better retain the highlight information in the shooting scene, making the output film closer to the light and shadow scene in reality.

In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 17 Pro series will also be equipped with a Mi Enjoy back screen. The official demo video fully demonstrates the diverse application scenarios of the back screen, including countdown, making and receiving calls, music control, flight check-in information display, taxi information display, rear camera selfie preview, etc. Unlike traditional mobile phone back screens that are only used for displaying information, the Xiaomi Mi 17 Pro’s back screen can be interactive, making operation more convenient.

The Xiaomi 17 series includes three products. Among them, Xiaomi 17 is positioned as “the strongest standard flagship in history”, with all-round upgrades but increased quantity without increasing price; Xiaomi 17 Pro is the “small-size technology imaging flagship”; and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is “the most powerful peak technology imaging flagship in Xiaomi’s history.”
