As expected, Apple Inc. has officially kicked off its week long series of product unveilings starting with the launch of the iPhone 17e. Positioned as the company’s more affordable option, the new model looks very similar to last year’s 16e in both design and overall approach. Despite keeping the same price point, the company has incorporated a few meaningful improvements subtly enhancing performance and features while preserving affordability.
At the core of the iPhone 17e is Apple Inc.’s A19 chip marking a step forward in processing capability even though the graphics unit features a 4 core GPU setup. In addition to the upgraded chip, the device also incorporates the new C1X modem which is said to provide stronger and more reliable connectivity compared to previous iterations.
On the front the iPhone 17e retains its 6.1 inch OLED display offering a resolution of 2532×1170 and a standard 60Hz refresh rate for smooth everyday performance. The display still include a notch that houses the Face ID technology and the front camera setup. The familiar notch remains in place housing the Face ID system along with the front facing selfie camera.
Around the back the iPhone 17e feature a single 48MP rear camera equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) to help reduce blur and improve stability. It is capable of recording 4K resolution video at 60fps with Dolby Vision support ensuring vibrant colors and improved dynamic range. Apple highlights that portrait photography is now better than before attributing the improvement to a revamped image processing pipeline that optimize depth detection and overall image quality.
On the front there is a 12MP camera dedicated to selfies and video calling ensuring clear image quality during photos and virtual meetings. The phone now also comes with MagSafe opening the door to seamless compatibility with numerous magnetic accessories such as chargers and cases. It also support 15W wireless charging and offer faster wired charging speed for added convenience.
Other key specification of the iPhone 17e include support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. These feature provide faster and more stable wireless connection. The device also come with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance along with GPS, NFC, Satellite connectivity and eSIM support for versatile communication and navigation option. It run on the latest iOS 26 and is powered by Apple Intelligence which help optimize performance and enhance user experience. When it comes to pricing Apple has set the base 256GB model at $599 while the higher capacity 512GB variant carries a price of $799. Customers can choose from three color finishes: Black, White and a newly introduced Soft Pink. Pre-orders for the iPhone 17e begin on March 4 with deliveries scheduled to start on March 11.
