Huawei’s new sub-brand “Starlight” will focus on online sales: positioned as a cost-effective option!

According to Fast Technology on October 17, recent rumors have suggested that Huawei’s new sub-brand “Starlight” phones are about to be launched.

According to the latest news from blogger “Digital Chat Station”, the “Starlight” phone will mainly target online sales and is positioned as a relatively cost-effective option. Several new models have already been planned, including a version equipped with an active cooling fan.

In terms of brand positioning, Xingmang is seen as a counterpart to Honor, which spun off in its early years, filling the long-standing gap in Huawei’s online mid-range segment. Rumors suggest that the product will be equipped with Kirin 8 or 9 series self-developed chips.

Trademark records show that Huawei applied for trademarks related to “starburst” as early as 2023, and submitted a new application in July 2026. However, Huawei’s response to the public has always been “please refer to official information.” The brand ownership and plan are still rumors that have not been officially confirmed.

Looking at Huawei’s current product portfolio, Mate and Pura maintain their position in the high-end market, nova focuses on offline aesthetics and imaging, Enjoy covers lower price points, and the online mid-range performance segment has long lacked an independent product line to compete with rivals such as Redmi, iQOO, and Realme.

If the starburst effect is implemented, it can provide an outlet for Kirin’s secondary chips, reduce costs, expand the installation volume of native HarmonyOS, and promote the maturity of the application ecosystem.

To date, the number of terminal devices equipped with HarmonyOS 6 and HarmonyOS 7 has exceeded 90 million, and the number of native applications has grown in tandem. HarmonyOS has grown into the world’s third largest operating system, and Starlight will further accelerate its progress.
