Apple MacBooks could feature Samsung’s Privacy Display tech by 2029, tipster says

Samsung is planning to reveal its Galaxy S26 series on February 25 and one of the main highlights that people are looking forward to at the Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to be the new Privacy Display feature, which will be available on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

A recent report from the market research company Omdia, as shared by well known tipster Ice Universe, suggests that the privacy display technology that Samsung is using could also be introduced in Apple’s MacBook lineup in the near future.

According to the report which is said to be based on insider information Apple’s MacBook models might start using Samsung’s privacy display technology by the year 2029. If this turns out to be true it would be a notable and interesting new feature for MacBooks and it is possible that this kind of technology could eventually be used by other laptop brands as well.

This feature has been specifically created to protect the information displayed on the screen from being seen by people nearby. It achieves this by restricting the angles at which the display is visible making sure that only the person actively using device can view the content. Users are also provided with flexible options allowing them to enable the privacy protection for whole display for certain areas of the screen or to disable it entirely if they prefer unrestricted viewing.

According to rumors circulating in the tech community this new privacy display technology is expected to remain exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra model because it is thought to rely on specialized hardware components that are not included in other models of the Galaxy S26 series.
