Apple Releases iOS 17.3 Beta with Stolen Device Protection And Apple Music Collaboration

Following the release of the iOS 17.2 official version, Apple has pushed the iOS 17.3 Beta update to developers, incorporating a significant new security feature called “Stolen Device Protection.”

Stolen Device Protection Functionality

The iOS 17.3 Beta introduces the “Stolen Device Protection” feature, designed to safeguard user information even if a thief or attacker knows the user’s private password. When this feature is activated, the iPhone requires identity verification through Face ID or Touch ID before performing certain operations, especially if the phone is in an unusual location.

Additional Security Measures

For particularly sensitive operations, the device not only requires Face ID or Touch ID verification but also imposes a one-hour waiting period before a second authentication is needed. However, these restrictions do not apply when the iPhone is in frequently used locations.

Apple Music Collaboration Playlists

Apart from the “Stolen Device Protection,” the iOS 17.3 Beta also brings the Apple Music collaboration playlists feature, which was announced before the release of iOS 17. Users can create new playlists or select existing ones in Apple Music, enable collaboration by clicking a small icon, and share a link for others to join in the collaboration.

iOS 17.3 Beta version marks a significant step forward in device security with the introduction of the “Stolen Device Protection” feature. This update, along with the new Apple Music collaboration playlists, demonstrates Apple’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user experience and security.
