The world’s first robot phone – Honor Robot Phone – will be officially released on August 12.
Today, Fang Fei, President of the Product Line of Honor Terminal Co., Ltd., posted an article about the new phone. She said that the mobile phone industry has been “calm” for a long time, and tomorrow, Honor will bring a “new friend” – the Honor Robot Phone.
Fang Fei said that the starting point for creating Robot Phone came from observing an everyday scenario: For consumers who love to record, why would they use a gimbal camera to take pictures when they already have a mobile phone?
However, it is not easy to actually fit the gimbal system into the inside of a mobile phone. Fang Fei pointed out that the internal space of a mobile phone is limited, and at the same time, it is necessary to take into account structural strength, motion accuracy, and issues such as frequent pop-up and storage, which puts high demands on hardware engineering capabilities.
To this end, Honor has miniaturized joint control technology from the field of robotics and integrated it deeply with mobile phones for the first time, integrating multi-degree-of-freedom precision motion components into the phone to achieve capabilities such as gimbal active rotation and dynamic tracking.
Building on this, Honor has also partnered with the century-old imaging brand ARRI to further enhance the performance of Robot Phone in mobile imaging.
It is understood that
the Honor Robot Phone is the world’s first to feature a self-developed 4D mechanical gimbal main camera and the first to feature an aerospace-grade titanium alloy agile gimbal architecture, which is 65% smaller in size than the mainstream gimbals in the industry.
Meanwhile, the new camera also debuts a titanium alloy gimbal motor, which is 34% smaller in size and 44% higher in torsional density than a robot’s dexterous hand motor, with a maximum speed of 360°/second. This mechanical structure enhances the phone’s image stabilization and intelligent camera movement capabilities during video shooting.
In addition, the Robot Phone is equipped with a self-developed shield steel tilting motor, which integrates 43 precision parts in a space of only 0.5cm³, supports 5-level speed adjustment, and has a maximum torque density of 120N·m/L.
The gimbal can pop out of the device or be stored in as little as 0.8 seconds. In its normal storage state, the overall shape of the device is basically the same as that of a regular candybar flagship phone.
In terms of functionality, the gimbal supports 360° rotation tracking, automatic framing, and target following. Its image stabilization capability reaches CIPA 5.5 level, which can further improve video stability in sports scenarios such as running and following.
Overall, the biggest breakthrough of the Honor Robot Phone lies in combining traditional mobile phone imaging capabilities with mechanical gimbals and robot control technology, directly integrating stable shooting and intelligent camera movement capabilities that previously required additional equipment into the phone.
