Huawei Mate 90 series tests eSIM! Will support quad SIM dual standby

According to Fast Technology on July 1, the recent leaks of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro have become widely known, and new information about Huawei’s Mate 90 series, which will be released at the same time in September, has also been revealed.

According to blogger Smart Pikachu, the Mate 90 series tested eSIM, but considering the policies and plans of domestic operators, it is unlikely that physical cards will be directly eliminated.

It is expected to support a combination of dual physical SIM cards and dual eSIM cards, similar to the Mate 80 RS, Pura X Max, and Pura 90 Pro Max, enabling one device to have four SIM cards and dual standby.

Huawei previously stated that a single phone can store up to two eSIM numbers, and currently, a single eSIM phone can support a maximum of four numbers (two physical SIM card numbers + two eSIM numbers). Two numbers can be used simultaneously (supporting both “two physical SIM cards” and “one physical SIM card + any eSIM number” schemes).

eSIM and physical SIM cards offer the same mobile phone services, supporting voice calls, SMS sending and receiving, data access and other communication functions, and can be activated for services such as international roaming as needed.

Compared to phones that only support physical SIM cards, this phone can add two more numbers on top of the existing dual physical SIM cards, without being limited by the physical SIM card slot.

Compared to traditional SIM cards, eSIM offers several advantages:

Phones are thinner and lighter: Since there is no need for a physical SIM card slot, the internal space of the phone is utilized more efficiently, which helps to increase battery capacity and avoids damage to the card caused by frequent insertion and removal.

No need to insert or remove SIM cards: eSIM is built directly into the phone, eliminating the need to change SIM cards and providing a smoother user experience.

No need to worry about losing your card: Since there is no physical card, there is no issue of loss or damage.

Travel is more convenient: users do not need to carry accessories such as SIM card ejector pins.

It can also be used overseas: When traveling abroad, you can directly activate a local operator’s number to use, effectively reducing international roaming fees.
