iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be the first to launch the A18 chip, and iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first to be equipped with the A18 Pro chip.
The A18 Pro adopts a 6-core design, consisting of 2 performance cores and 4 energy-efficiency cores. The CPU main frequency of the performance core reaches 4.05GHz , which is equivalent to the main frequency of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4.
More importantly, Apple A18 Pro will be the first to use TSMC’s N3P process. This new process is more expensive. In comparison, the A18 chip equipped with the iPhone 16 uses TSMC’s N3E process.
It is reported that N3P is an enhanced version of the N3E process, which further improves energy efficiency and transistor density. Compared with N3E, N3P’s performance is improved by 10% and energy consumption is reduced by 16%.
In addition, Apple A18 Pro integrates a 6-core GPU, which increases the graphics processing speed by 40%, making it the most powerful mobile GPU in Apple’s history.
It is worth noting that the entire A18 series supports Apple Intelligence. Currently, Apple Intelligence is still in the testing stage and may not be pre-installed on the iPhone 16.
