iPhone Air Sales Fall Short, Chinese Brands Drop Sleek Phone Projects

The iPhone Air has not achieved the level of sales that Apple might have hoped for and this may have discouraged at least three rival smartphone brands from attempting to produce their own ultra-thin and lightweight devices. A recent report from DigiTimes says that several Chinese companies including Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo have apparently decided to cancel their plans to launch ultra-slim smartphones that were supposed to compete with the iPhone Air.

A recent report suggests that Apple is currently facing significant challenges in producing its iPhone models. According to the report, Foxconn which is one of Apple’s main manufacturing partners has reduced the number of its iPhone production lines. At the same time, Luxshare another key supplier has completely stopped producing iPhones which adds further pressure to Apple’s supply chain. In addition to these production issues the designer responsible for creating the iPhone Air has recently left the company and reports indicate that Apple has also delayed the release of the next Air model. These developments suggest that Apple may be facing a period of uncertainty with its iPhone Air lineup.

It’s not only Apple that is seeing problems in the smartphone market. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is reportedly underperforming in sales and the company has decided to cancel its plans for the next model, according to the reports.
