Motorola Signature Sees Sudden Price Jump to €1,300 in Finland

If you are thinking about buying the Motorola Signature phone, now might be a good time to consider it. The phone’s initial price was set at 1,000 euros in the European Union, yet just before it was launched in Finland, the cost unexpectedly jumped to 1,300 euros.

It’s still unclear why the price increased so suddenly. Motorola reached out to the Finnish technology publication SuomiMobiili to inform them about the higher price, but the company did not explain why this last-minute change was necessary. The phone is being sold with a special launch package that includes a free Moto Watch and a pair of Moto Buds Loop, valued at 228 euros in total. Still, the combined value of these items is far less than the 300-euro jump in the phone’s price.

The good news for potential buyers is that in most other European countries, the Motorola Signature is still priced at 1,000 euros. These countries include France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands and Spain. The only exception we found was Italy, where Motorola has set the price at 1,100 euros, a bit more than the standard 1,000 euros in other markets.

It’s worth noting that, at the moment, only Motorola’s stores in the UK and Ireland actually have the phone listed as available for purchase. For all the other stores we looked at, including the Finnish store, there is no option to buy the phone immediately. Instead, they only offer a “notify me” button to let customers know when it becomes available.

The Motorola Signature is expected to go on sale starting January 30, which is tomorrow, because Motorola will stop taking pre-bookings at the end of today. For buyers in the Nordic region, though, the launch date is set later, on February 17, so it will be a few more weeks before it can be purchased there.

For what it is worth, we were able to find the Motorola Signature being sold for 1,000 euros at a third-party store in Finland. If you act quickly there is still a chance to purchase the phone at this earlier, lower price.
