Pixel 11 Expected to Include Tensor G6 SoC Equipped with Enhanced Security Chip

Google originally introduced its Titan M2 security chip as part of the Pixel 6 series back in 2021 marking a significant step forward in device security at the time. Even though this same chip remains an integral part of the Pixel 10 lineup today it is becoming increasingly evident that after more than four years. The technology is beginning to feel somewhat dated compared to more recent advancements in the field.

The good news for Pixel enthusiasts is that a fresh rumor has surfaced suggesting that Google will introduce the Titan M3 security chip later this year as part of the upcoming Pixel 11 series which is also expected to feature the new Tensor G6 SoC. Although the exact details of what changes or enhancements the Titan M3 will bring remain unknown, the chip is allegedly internally codenamed “Google Epic”. The boldness of this internal codename strongly suggests that the new Titan M3 will offer significant improvements over its predecessor as it would be difficult to justify such a dramatic name for something only slightly better than before.

For context it’s worth noting that the Titan M2 security chip is responsible for managing several critical functions including secure boot, protection of on-device encryption keys, anti rollback safeguards and verification of lock screen passcodes. In addition, the chip is specifically designed to maintain full security even in the event that the Android operating system or the device’s Tensor processor is compromised, there by ensuring that sensitive data remains protected under all conditions.
