Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro is here: Xiaomi launches it globally for the first time.

Qualcomm plans to officially launch its new generation flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 series, this September. This time, Qualcomm has achieved a qualitative leap in manufacturing process technology, directly entering the highly anticipated 2nm era.

According to the latest news, Qualcomm will simultaneously launch two 2nm mobile chips: the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 and a higher-spec Pro version. The Pro version, model number SM8975, is Qualcomm’s current top-of-the-line flagship and will be the first to support LPDDR6 memory.

This means that the Android camp will officially begin the commercialization of LPDDR6 memory this year. The new generation of memory offers an approximately 11.5% increase in transmission speed, reaching up to 10.7Gbps, which will bring a smoother multitasking experience to mobile phones.

In terms of core configuration, the entire Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 series will be equipped with Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon CPU. This architecture has 8 cores, adopts a 2+3+3 design , and integrates the powerful Adreno 850 graphics processor.

Most impressively, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro boasts a CPU clock speed exceeding 5GHz. This makes it the highest-clocked mobile chip in the industry, marking a new level of competition in mobile performance.

However, this dramatic performance boost comes at the cost of a significant increase. Market sources indicate that since TSMC’s 2nm wafer manufacturing price exceeds $30,000, almost double that of 4nm wafers, the price of the next-generation chips is likely to rise sharply.

This means that Android flagship phones released in the second half of the year will face significant cost pressures, and the starting price of these products may increase accordingly. For users seeking ultimate performance, their purchase budget may need to be further increased.
