Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 officially released: 8.9mm, 215g, the lightest in the world

Samsung held a press conference in New York tonight to officially launch the new generation folding screen flagship Galaxy Z Fold7.

The phone continues the classic design language of Samsung’s folding screen, but has made significant breakthroughs in lightness and thinness. When folded, the thickness is only 8.9mm and the weight is reduced to 215g.

This is currently the lightest folding phone in the world. The previous lightest was the Honor Magic V5, which weighed 219g. Its thickness is second only to this phone at 8.8mm.

When unfolded, the thinnest part of the body is 4.2mm, which is significantly thinner than the previous generation, making it easier to operate with one hand.

This is mainly due to Samsung’s innovations in materials and structural design. It used titanium metal support plates for the first time to replace traditional stainless steel materials, which greatly reduced the weight while improving the strength of the body.

In terms of the specific screen, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 has a 6.5-inch external screen with a ratio of 21:9, a resolution of 2520 x 1080, and supports an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. The daily use experience is close to that of traditional straight-screen mobile phones.

The internal screen is 8 inches with a resolution of 2184 x 1968. It also supports 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, taking into account smooth visual experience and power consumption control.

At the same time, Samsung claims that through the combination of a new generation of ultra-thin flexible glass (UTG) and water drop hinge technology, the crease is “almost invisible”, further enhancing the visual effect of the inner screen.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition For Galaxy processor, 12GB/16GB LPDDR5X memory and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 high-speed storage.

Built-in 4400mAh battery, supports 25W wired fast charging + wireless charging.

The imaging system has also been significantly upgraded, with a rear 200-megapixel main camera and a Samsung S5KHP2 1/1.3-inch sensor. It is coupled with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and 10-megapixel telephoto lens, covering a variety of shooting focal lengths to meet users’ diverse shooting needs.

The front cameras of both screens are 10-megapixel lenses, which can provide clear pictures whether it is selfies on the external screen or video calls on the internal screen. Unfortunately, the rumored under-screen camera on the internal screen did not come true.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 offers three storage versions: 12GB+256GB for 13,999 yuan (free upgrade to 512GB in China), 12GB+512GB for 14,999 yuan, and 16GB+1TB for 17,499 yuan.
