The first domestically produced one-inch sensor! OmniVision OV50X released

OmniVision Group officially released the one-inch sensor – OV50X today.

The OV50X has 50 million pixels, uses a 1-inch optical format, and has a pixel size of 1.6 microns, designed specifically for flagship smartphones.

It has the ability to shoot high dynamic range (HDR) video in a single exposure, excellent low-light performance, fast autofocus and high frame rate, which can achieve cinematic video shooting.

Equipped with a large 1-inch optical format sensor, it provides a single-exposure HDR of nearly 110db, allowing the phone to shoot high-quality videos and photos in a variety of complex lighting conditions (such as challenging shooting scenes such as sunrise, sunset, night or cloudy days).

OV50X supports four-in-one pixel merging, with a maximum pixel of 12.5 million, supports high frame rates of 180 frames per second and 60 frames per second, and uses three-channel HDR.

Supports high-quality 8K video shooting, with dual analog gain (DAG) HDR and in-sensor crop zoom functions.

OmniVision’s TheiaCel technology extends single-exposure HDR to nearly 110db, currently the highest range among similar products.

In addition, OV50X also supports quad phase detection (QPD) with 100% coverage, providing excellent autofocus performance.

Based on PureCel Plus-S wafer stacking technology, OV50X achieves excellent low-light performance.

According to official introduction, OV50X is now available for sampling and will be put into mass production in the third quarter of 2025.

According to previous industry reports, it is very likely that Huawei’s Pura 80 series will be the first to be equipped with it, and flagship products such as Xiaomi should also use it in the future.
