The Huawei Pura 90 series will not feature 3D face recognition, a feature exclusive to the Mate series.

Huawei’s Pura series and Mate series are both flagship product lines, but they are positioned differently, with the former emphasizing imaging capabilities and appearance design.

According to Huawei’s iteration strategy, Huawei will launch the Pura 90 series in the first half of this year.

Today, blogger “Factory Manager is Guan Tongxue” revealed that the Huawei Pura 90 series will still not feature 3D face recognition, and stated that this technology is exclusive to the Mate series, and this product strategy will not change.

Meanwhile, another blogger, “Fixed Focus Digital,” revealed that the rear camera module of the Pura 90 series has not changed much. The body adopts a right-angle frame design and is equipped with a side fingerprint recognition solution, with the recognition position relatively high.

From the perspective of product evolution, Huawei’s layout in facial recognition has always been relatively clear. Starting with the Mate 20 Pro, Huawei has equipped the Mate Pro series with 3D facial recognition.

The Pura (formerly the P series) has never introduced a 3D facial recognition solution, resulting in a functional differentiation between the two flagship lines.

It is understood that 3D face recognition technology uses 3D cameras to create stereoscopic images and identify the three-dimensional coordinates of each point in the space within the field of view, thereby enabling the computing system to obtain 3D data of the space and reconstruct a complete three-dimensional world.

When a user unlocks the phone, the front-facing camera system captures facial data and compares it with facial information in the system. If they match, the owner’s identity is confirmed and the phone is successfully unlocked.
