TrendForce: iPhone 16 series production will reach 86.7 million units in the second half of the year

According to the latest forecast from market research firm TrendForce on September 6, as market expectations for Apple Intelligence continue to heat up after WWDC24, 
the production of the iPhone 16 series in the second half of 2024 will reach 86.7 million units, a year-on-year increase of nearly 8% .

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 series is expected to be equipped with the new A18 and A18 Pro processors, and a comprehensive DRAM upgrade to support Apple Intelligence functions.

According to analysis, although the panel size of the iPhone 16 Pro series has increased slightly compared to the previous generation, the frame rate of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will remain at 60Hz.

In addition, the RAM capacity of the iPhone 16 series will be fully upgraded, and the capacity of the four new models will reach 8GB LPDDR5X specifications to meet the needs of Apple Intelligence functions.

In terms of pricing strategy, TrendForce pointed out that despite the increase in costs, the US dollar pricing of the four new models launched by Apple this year is expected to be on par with the iPhone 15 series, or only slightly increased, in order to promote sales of new models while maintaining profitability.
