Fast Technology reported that although Android manufacturers are all pushing foldable screens, they have never solved the problem of screen creases (which may cause screen cracks and damage with long-term use). So why would Apple solve this problem?
Recently, supply chain sources indicated that Apple has overcome the crease problem in foldable phone screens, and related suppliers are preparing for mass production of the iPhone Fold in 2026. It is understood that the iPhone Fold is expected to launch in 2026 or 2027, featuring a book-like flexible screen design.
Supply chain sources revealed that Apple has made a breakthrough by eliminating screen creases, which is expected to make the iPhone the first truly “crease-free” foldable phone.
According to supply chain sources, Samsung supplied the inward-folding display, but Apple designed the screen structure, material processing, and lamination process itself.
In addition, Apple has partnered with suppliers such as Shin Zu Shing and Amphenol to integrate screen panels and hinge bearings.
Most importantly, Apple may also be using high-strength liquid metal material in the hinge (which also makes counterfeiting quite expensive) to minimize deformation and improve durability.
It is reported that the iPhone Fold will be equipped with a 7.8-inch inward-folding display, and when closed, it will have a 5.5-inch auxiliary screen on the outside for easy use in the folded state.
