Fresh Leak Unveils Specs Of OnePlus 12R

OnePlus is set to introduce a new budget-friendly smartphone, the OnePlus 12R, to the global market, including the United States, marking a first for the company.

This move follows OnePlus’s tradition of releasing R-branded variants of its flagship phones in China, a practice that began with the OnePlus 9 in 2021. However, this will be the first time such a model is officially available in North America and Europe.

The OnePlus 12R, also known as the OnePlus Ace 3 in China, boasts impressive specifications. It features a large 6.8-inch display with a 1.5K resolution of 2480×1264 pixels. While the refresh rate wasn’t specified in the leak, it’s speculated to be around 120Hz.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, and it offers two RAM options: 12GB and 16GB. The phone also comes equipped with a substantial 5500mAh battery, supported by 100W fast charging capabilities.

These details emerged from a premature listing on the China Telecom website, revealing the phone under its Chinese name, OnePlus Ace 3. The global version, the OnePlus 12R, is expected to be announced by January 23, 2024, with the Chinese variant possibly going on sale as early as January 31, 2024. Pricing details, particularly in USD, remain unconfirmed.

Additionally, OnePlus is rumored to be working on another variant, the OnePlus Ace 3V. This model is expected to have a similar display resolution but might feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip instead.

If released outside China, this device could be marketed under a different name, following the precedent set by previous models like the OnePlus Nord 3, which was sold globally as the OnePlus 2V.

While official confirmations from OnePlus regarding the OnePlus 12R’s specifications are still pending, the leaks suggest an affordable yet feature-rich offering. This strategy could significantly impact the smartphone market, especially in the US, where flagship models often come with a higher price tag. The OnePlus 12R’s introduction is anticipated to influence the market dynamics for months following its release.
