Google confirms that the Pixel 9 series uses UFS 3.1 flash memory

Google confirmed that the Pixel 9 series comes standard with UFS 3.1 flash memory and does not use the newer UFS 4.0 standard.

Some netizens think that Google’s approach is unacceptable. After all, the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are priced at more than $1,000, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold 512GB version is priced at $1,919 (approximately RMB 13,700). The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra of the same price comes standard with UFS 4.0 flash memory.

Public information shows that UFS 4.0 has a read speed of up to 4200MBps, while maintaining up to 23.2Gbps data transmission through MIPI M-PHY 5.0, which is twice that of UFS 3.1.

Not only that, the write speed of UFS 4.0 has also increased by 1.6 times to 2800MBps, allowing users to work, entertain and create without restrictions.

In addition, the energy efficiency of UFS 4.0 is improved by 46% compared to the previous generation. Even when running at high performance, it still saves power. Only 1mA of power is needed to drive a sequential read speed of 6.0Mbps, allowing users to better experience cutting-edge products.

Currently, UFS 4.0 flash memory has become standard on high-end flagships, but Google is still in the UFS 3.1 era.
