Google Pixel 10 WiFi Bug Surfaces In Quick Share Update For AirDrop

Earlier this week, Google shocked the smartphone world with the news that now Android can transfer files between Android and Apple through a feature called Quick Share and AirDrop and it does not require any extra applications. However, a few days after the update was released, there was an unintended problem that started to be experienced by several users.

The owners of the Pixel 10 line on Reddit have complained (through PiunikaWeb) that all they do is open the Quick Share menu and their phone loses its Wi-Fi connection. The issue is manifested following the installation of the Quick Share extension that makes AirDrop compatible. One of the users even stated that when the problem arises, no networks are available at all on the Wi-Fi settings page.

There have been numerous reports of the glitch on the Pixel Phone Help forum and the Google Issue Tracker. Ahead of itself, a product guru closed the thread in the help forum and redirected users to the Issue Tracker a Google representative in the Issue Tracker marked the problem won’t fix (obsolete), and referred them back to the help forum.

And, until the moment when users find any other alternative, the only short-term solution they can come up with is to remove the update of the Quick Share extension. This, however, eliminates the AirDrop-sharing feature, so it is not the best option to those who need to use cross-platform transfers.

We sent Google an inquiry to get a better understanding of what is going on and to get to know whether an official change is coming. This narrative will be revised after Google reacts.
