DXOMARK announced the test results of Pixel 9 Pro XL today, with an image score of 158 points, ranking second among mobile phones in the world, second only to Huawei Pura 70 Ultra!
In terms of the main camera, thanks to the new HDR imaging, the device has good exposure in most conditions, excellent color and white balance management, and can present very beautiful and realistic portraits and landscapes. The autofocus system is fast and reliable; zoom shooting at different focal lengths is also excellent, which can present good details.
DXOMARK officially pointed out that when shooting videos, the stability of both static and mobile shooting is very good, and the autofocus is fast and accurate. In addition, as an AI-driven camera, the Pixel 9 Pro XL integrates a variety of AI functions, making it one of the most advanced smartphones to date.
Its Video Boost feature delivers almost cinematic rendering, with better stability, virtually no visible noise, and excellent color rendering.
DXOMARK also mentioned that the imaging of this phone has some shortcomings: for example, depth of field problems occasionally occur in blur mode, which affects the portrait shooting experience; in low-light environments, images (especially videos) will have some texture loss and obvious rough noise.
In terms of selfies, the device has upgraded front-camera hardware compared to its predecessor Pixel 8 Pro, with a wider focal length, larger sensor, and higher pixels, and these changes have significantly improved the overall image quality.
In HDR selfie video mode, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is on par with top-notch devices like the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and Honor Magic 6 Pro , delivering all-around video performance with accurate exposure, wide dynamic range, vivid colors, and good levels of detail.
On the downside, there’s some image noise in high-contrast scenes, artifacts in bokeh mode, and inconsistent background blur.
