Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max New Collector’s Edition: Supports External Lenses, a New Mate Species Arrives

Fast Technology reported that blogger Dingjiao Digital hinted that Huawei will add a collector’s edition to the Mate 90 Pro Max, and that the phone will support an external lens. Detailed specifications of this external lens are currently unknown, but one speculation is that it might be a teleconverter.

It is understood that the significance of teleconverters lies in extending the focal length through an external optical structure, allowing mobile phones to obtain higher magnification telephoto capabilities without sacrificing image quality, thereby making up for the shortcomings of insufficient resolution when shooting at ultra-long distances with built-in telephoto lenses.

To date, many leading domestic brands have created dedicated teleconverters for their flagship imaging products. These accessories are particularly useful in long-distance scenarios such as concerts and sporting events.

In terms of imaging configuration, the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max is equipped with a 50-megapixel RYYB main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, supports variable aperture, and has a dynamic range of 18EV. It also features a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and a new generation of red maple primary color lens, placing its overall imaging specifications at flagship level.

In addition, the Mate 90 Pro Max will be among the first to be equipped with the Kirin 9050 Pro chip. Its CPU has been expanded from the tri-cluster design of the previous generation to a quad-cluster design. The super core remains at 1, while the large cores have been further subdivided from the previous generation’s 4 into 2 performance large cores and 4 energy-efficient large cores. The ultra-low power small cores have been reduced from the previous generation’s 4 to 2.

In terms of GPU, the Kirin 9050 Pro is equipped with the Ma Liang 955 GPU, which retains the basic scale of 6CUs, but has a significantly larger number of ALUs and a higher frequency, thus resulting in stronger performance.

The phone will be officially released in late September. The launch event will simultaneously unveil four flagship models: the Mate 90, Mate 90 Pro, Mate 90 Pro Max, and Mate 90 RS Master. It’s definitely worth looking forward to.
