The freed up space inside the device was then leveraged to accommodate a SIM card reader adjacent to the physical SIM slot, effectively allowing the modified Air to function completely like a standard iPhone with both eSIM and physical SIM capabilities.

Report indicate that the modified Air can also connect to 5G networks without any noticeable issues providing the high speed mobile data performance expected from a flagship Apple device. Perhaps most remarkable is that the phone has managed to retain its IP68 ingress protection rating meaning it remains highly resistant to dust and water even after extensive internal adjustments.
