according to media reports, as competition in the smartphone market intensifies, Samsung Electronics may make major adjustments to its flagship Galaxy S series, canceling the basic model of Galaxy S26 in 2026 and only launching Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The strategy shift is similar to the changes Samsung made to its flagship tablet lineup this year, when it launched only the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.
Analysts believe that the reason behind this change may be the declining competitiveness of basic mobile phones in the market. With Chinese brands about to launch more devices with high-end configurations but smaller sizes, the Galaxy S25 may only barely maintain its competitiveness, while the Galaxy S26 may face greater challenges.
As consumers demand more and more performance and features from their phones, and competition in the smartphone market becomes increasingly fierce, Samsung may want to maintain its leading position in the market by focusing on higher-end models.
In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to be released in January 2025, including the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra.
