Huawei’s Ruiying Z10 module camera, which transmits data across three generations using a single lens

Fast Technology reported that after the release of the Huawei Ruiying Z10 modular camera, many netizens were wondering whether the accessories could be used interchangeably between different models.

Li Xiaolong, CTO of Huawei Terminal BG, explained that this modular camera has two mounts, H1 and H2, which can be interchanged by a detachable adapter ring . The entire process can be done by hand without the need for any tools.

The H1 mount is compatible with the Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition, while the H2 mount is compatible with the Mate 90 RS Master. The camera and lens interfaces are exactly the same; the difference lies in the adapter ring.

Users only need to change the adapter ring to switch between two flagship cameras using the same Ruiying Z10, without having to purchase a complete module camera.

Many people are concerned about whether the accessories will become obsolete after the phone is upgraded. According to the official statement, even if the shape and openings of the new phone body are changed, as long as the official releases a new adapter ring, the old Ruiying Z10 can continue to be used. It won’t be that the module camera worth thousands of yuan will be idle when the phone is updated.

Huawei also revealed that it will launch more mobile phone products that are compatible with the Ruiying Z10 in the future.

The Ruiying Z10 is a complete independent imaging system, priced at 5999 yuan. It comes with a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor and achieves 10x continuous optical zoom of 24-240mm.

It’s not just a simple teleconverter; it’s equipped with a complete set of optical components. Once attached to a phone, it directly produces images, and photos and videos can be processed and shared directly within the HarmonyOS Gallery.

Many photography enthusiasts fear that modular accessories will lock them in, requiring a complete overhaul when their phone is upgraded. This replaceable adapter solution extends the lifespan of modular cameras.

Of course, it also has limitations. At present, it only supports Huawei’s own flagship models, and other brands of phones cannot use it.
