the OnePlus 16 will be the first to feature a new generation of “Eastern Screen.” This screen not only supports a global 165Hz high refresh rate but also adopts a four-sided equal-sided design, with the narrowest bezels among flagship models, making it arguably the most beautiful front-facing display.
Last year, the OnePlus 15 achieved a 165Hz ultra-high refresh rate on a 1.5K resolution screen for the first time. Compared to the traditional 120Hz, 165Hz refreshes 45 more frames per second, further shortening the display time per frame. In scenarios such as fast screen scrolling and design-oriented games, there is a noticeable improvement in smoothness and responsiveness.
The OnePlus 16 will be the first phone to feature a global 165Hz high refresh rate, completely breaking the previous convention of “game-only” refresh rates. Previously, most phones used a dynamic adjustment mode for their high refresh rates, with the home screen and frequently used apps likely running at 60Hz or 120Hz, only reaching the maximum refresh rate when playing specific games.
A global 165Hz refresh rate means that every swipe and every animation runs at 165Hz, raising the overall smoothness of the phone to a whole new level.
In terms of hardware configuration, the OnePlus 16 will be among the first to feature Qualcomm’s sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra flagship platform. This chip uses a third-generation Orion 2+3+3 octa-core architecture, paired with an Adreno 850 GPU and 18MB of graphics cache, and supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 flash storage.
More noteworthy is that the sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra has a super core clock speed of nearly 5GHz, and its GPU also features exclusive hardware-level AI intelligent frame generation technology, giving it a significant advantage in gaming experience.
The device is expected to officially launch in October. From hardware to system ecosystem, OnePlus is pushing 165Hz from an “early adopter” to a “standard feature across the board,” bringing users a more extreme and smoother experience.
