OnePlus and BOE jointly developed the fourth-generation Oriental screen! OnePlus 16 features it globally for the first time.

OnePlus China President Li Jie announced that OnePlus and BOE will hold a communication meeting on the fourth-generation Oriental Screen technology at 10:00 AM on October 9.

Li Jie stated that they will release the fourth-generation Oriental Screen together with BOE, and it will be the first OnePlus 16 in the world to be equipped with it. Their focus is on improving the experience that everyone can feel every day, including clearer vision, smoother scrolling, and clearer dynamic images.

As for why he dares to call it a top-tier screen, Li Jie said that he will try his best to explain the underlying technology and experience upgrades in an easy-to-understand way tomorrow.

It is reported that last year’s OnePlus 15 was the first to launch the third-generation Oriental Screen jointly developed by OnePlus and BOE. The core breakthrough was the achievement of a 1.5K+165Hz high resolution and high refresh rate combination, breaking the industry’s previous bottleneck that high refresh rate and high resolution were difficult to achieve at the same time.

In the past, 165Hz screens were mostly only compatible with 1080P resolution. The third-generation Oriental screen, through the reconstruction of circuitry, driving and display algorithms, and the combination with the new X3 luminescent material, increases the refresh rate to 165Hz while retaining 1.5K resolution. It can output 45 more frames per second, improving display speed by 27%, which is a significant breakthrough for domestically produced OLEDs.

The OnePlus 16 features a fourth-generation Oriental Screen with a refresh rate of 185Hz, while also supporting a global 165Hz high refresh rate. In global mode, short videos and text reading can stably run at 165Hz, delivering a smooth and fluid operating experience, with visual smoothness far exceeding that of a 120Hz screen.

It’s worth mentioning that the OnePlus 16 now supports native 185FPS+ HD graphics in Delta Force. With the new Wind Rider gaming kernel, it can maintain a smooth, full-frame performance for extended periods.
