The iPhone Duo has the lowest stock levels in recent years! Grab it while you can: starting from 15,999 yuan!

Fast Technology reported that a blogger posted an article stating that the initial stock of the iPhone Duo was relatively small, likely the smallest Apple stock for a phone in mainland China in recent years. Furthermore, the interval between the first and second batches of iPhone Duo was quite long, meaning that securing a unit during the initial launch period would not be easy.

As Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo garnered widespread attention even before its release. Despite compromises in its specifications—lacking a telephoto lens, Face ID, and only supporting eSIM—it hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of Apple fans. Current market feedback indicates that the product remains highly sought after.

However, the overall yield rate of this device has remained low for a long time, and the initial supply is extremely tight. According to supply chain sources, the iPhone Duo is assembled by the contract manufacturer Foxconn, and the overall assembly yield rate is only slightly over 60%, far below the maturity level of regular iPhones, with nearly 40% of the products failing to meet standards.

The main bottleneck in the iPhone Duo’s yield rate comes from its core component, the hinge. This hinge is composed of hundreds of precision parts, and the initial yield rate of these components is low. Furthermore, Apple’s insistence on stringent quality control and reluctance to relax its inspection standards means that the yield ramp-up will take at least another six months. In the short term, significant improvements in production capacity are unlikely.

Due to production capacity constraints, the annual inventory of iPhone Duo has been reduced to around 6 million units, resulting in a severe shortage of initial stock. Because of this supply-demand imbalance, high premiums are highly likely during the initial launch phase, making it extremely difficult for consumers to purchase the phone at the original price.

It’s worth mentioning that many scalpers are also offering proxy buying services under the guise of “getting stock on the first day.” As for pricing, the iPhone Duo starts at 15,999 yuan, will be available for pre-order on October 16th, and will officially go on sale on October 23rd, offering four versions: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
