OnePlus Open Receives Big Update Other Than Android 14

OnePlus, having made a significant impact in the foldable smartphone market with the OnePlus Open, has released a new update for the device. While users might be anticipating Android 14, this update is not it. Instead, the OnePlus Open is receiving the OxygenOS 13.2 update, which is an enhancement of the existing Android 13 platform.

The update, identified as Oxygen OS 13.2, is relatively lightweight, coming in at about 190.66 MB. This size is notably smaller compared to the previous November 2023 security patch, which was around 508.98 MB. The firmware version for this update is CPH2551_13.2.0.203(EX01), and it includes the latest December 2023 security patch. The information about this update was first reported by the Telegram channel OnePlus Open: The Chatroom, as mentioned by Android Authority.

The OxygenOS 13.2 update brings several performance improvements to the OnePlus Open. It focuses on enhancing both system and camera functionalities, aiming to provide a smoother and more stable user experience. Specifically, the update improves touch controls and reduces power consumption, which should contribute to longer battery life. Network stability is also enhanced, ensuring more reliable connectivity.

For photography enthusiasts, the update addresses several camera-related issues. It resolves the shutter lag problem when exiting Nightscape mode and fixes unresponsive UI elements like Retouch and Flash. Additionally, it eliminates the issue of the main screen freezing when using Dual Preview with the rear camera. These improvements are expected to significantly enhance the photo and video capturing experience on the OnePlus Open.

The rollout of the OxygenOS 13.2 update is scheduled to occur throughout the week. Most devices will receive the update automatically, but users can manually check for it by navigating to Settings > About device > OxygenOS > Check for update. While there is no official announcement regarding the Android 14 update for the OnePlus Open, it is anticipated to arrive soon, especially considering that other OnePlus models, such as the Nord CE 3 Lite, have already started receiving it.
