OPPO Watch X2 Takes on the Galaxy Watch Ultra with Impressive Battery Life and Features

After Samsung integrated Wear OS into its smartwatches, numerous brands followed suit, launching their own Wear OS-powered devices. OPPO has joined the competition with the launch of its latest smartwatch, the OPPO Watch X2, designed to rival the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The OPPO Watch X2 was introduced alongside the OPPO Find N5 smartphone. Built on Wear OS 5.0, it mirrors the software experience of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. However, OPPO has added its own twist with ColorOS Watch 7.0, a customized Wear OS skin.

The smartwatch boasts a 1.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, delivering a peak brightness of 2,200 nits. It also supports an always-on display mode (AOD). The screen is protected by Sapphire Crystal glass, while the stainless steel frame and titanium alloy bezel enhance durability. The device features a rotating crown on the right side, allowing users to navigate the interface effortlessly. In terms of durability, the OPPO Watch X2 matches the Galaxy Watch 7 with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It can survive submersion in water up to 50 meters. Additionally, it supports 20mm interchangeable straps, providing users with customization options.

Under the hood, the OPPO Watch X2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. By comparison, the Galaxy Watch Ultra features Samsung’s Exynos W1000 chip with the same memory and storage capacities.

The OPPO Watch X2 shines in the battery department, offering a 648mAh battery that can last up to three days with all features enabled. This outperforms the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which costs slightly more. However, the OPPO Watch X2 lacks wireless charging and relies on 7.5W wired charging, while Samsung’s smartwatches support 10W wireless charging.

On the health and fitness front, the OPPO Watch X2 packs an array of sensors, including an accelerometer, barometer, compass, ECG, GPS (dual-frequency), gyroscope, heart rate monitor, SpO2 monitor, and a skin temperature sensor. While it features most of the same sensors as the Galaxy Watch 7, it does not include a body composition analysis sensor, which means users can’t measure metrics like BMI or body fat percentage. Health data can be synced with Google Fit or other apps via Health Connect, and workout data can be shared with apps like Strava.

For connectivity, the smartwatch supports dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.2 with LE, NFC, a microphone, and a loudspeaker.

When it comes to pricing, the OPPO Watch X2 is slightly more affordable than the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It retails for SGD 499 in Singapore, which is approximately $374. However, it remains unclear if the device will be available in American or European markets. For comparison, the Galaxy Watch 7 costs around $250 in the US, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra is priced at approximately $420.
