Starting at 14,999 yuan, the most expensive Apple phone! Officially launching next week.

According to Fast Technology on September 4th, with less than a week to go before the launch of Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Ultra, it will be unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series at Apple’s fall event on September 10th.

Multiple analyses suggest that the US version of this phone will be priced between $2,000 and $2,500, while the Chinese version is expected to start at 14,999 yuan, making it the most expensive iPhone in Apple’s history.

The device adopts a book-style inward folding design, with a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch internal screen when unfolded. The 4:3 aspect ratio is close to that of the iPad mini, providing a larger viewing area when browsing web pages and reading documents.

The body is about 4.5mm thick when unfolded and 9.2mm thick when folded. It uses a liquid metal hinge structure, and the crease control is very small, but it cannot be completely crease-free.

To achieve an ultra-thin body, the device made several hardware compromises. There is no space inside to accommodate the Face ID component, so the Touch ID power button on the side is used for unlocking. The volume buttons are retained on the top of the device.

The imaging configuration is a dual-camera setup, equipped with only a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle lens, without a telephoto lens, which has become a point of contention among netizens.

Although early mock-ups did not have MagSafe magnetic rings, Mark Gurman stated that the production version will support MagSafe charging.

On the software side, it runs iOS 27, with the system specifically optimized for folded form, enhancing the application’s adaptive scaling layout, and supporting split-screen multitasking, sidebar, and running two applications side by side.

The core chip is consistent with the iPhone 18 Pro, using the A20 Pro processor. The US version will most likely still use the Qualcomm baseband. Whether it can switch to the self-developed C2 baseband depends on the C2 chip’s support for millimeter wave 5G.

The leaked color options include silver and dark blue; Apple has internally tested compatibility with Apple Pencil, but the initial release will not include a stylus.

Regarding the launch schedule, supply chain sources are divided, with rumors of production disruptions. However, Mark Gurman believes that the new phone will most likely be released at the same time as or very close to the iPhone 18 Pro, but the initial supply will be very tight, and users who did not manage to get one in the first batch will face a long wait.
