The iPhone Fold design is officially finalized: the world’s first crease-free screen technology.

Apple has finally solved the screen crease problem that Android has been unable to solve for many years.

According to reports, Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Fold, has made another key progress. Its core “crease-free” screen has been officially finalized, and its supply chain partner, Foxconn, has set up a dedicated production line.

It is reported that the prototype of the foldable iPhone Fold has an inner screen size of 7.74 inches and an outer screen size of 5.49 inches. The test version has a battery capacity of 5400-5800mAh, which exceeds the level of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Samsung will be the sole supplier of the foldable screen, but Apple has not yet determined a battery supplier. Due to the complex internal structure of the foldable screen, the battery needs to undergo strict quality control.

Regarding the hinge, although Apple has mastered liquid metal material technology, there are still uncertainties in the mass production process, and specific issues have not been publicly disclosed. As the core component of the foldable screen, this directly affects the device’s resistance to bending and was previously the biggest challenge in its development.

According to renowned journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPhone in the fall of 2026, with a price tag of approximately $2,000.

In terms of performance, the new phone will be equipped with the A20 series chip based on TSMC’s 2nm process, debut Apple’s self-developed C2 baseband, and may be equipped with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The main features of the new machine are expected to be as follows:

1. Touch ID returns as a side button, but Face ID is no longer available (due to space limitations).

2. It adopts a “book-style” left and right folding design, with a 7.74-inch inner screen without creases and a 5.49-inch outer screen.

3. The rear camera uses a dual-lens setup, with one front camera in each orientation: open and folded.

4. The folded thickness is approximately 9-9.5mm, and the unfolded thickness is approximately 4.5-4.8mm.

5. It uses the same high-density battery cells as the ultra-thin iPhone.

6. Apple will go to great lengths to eliminate creases.
