According to supply chain sources, Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Fold, is expected to debut in the fall of 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 series. This will be Apple’s most high-end iPhone device ever.
A blogger has revealed that the iPhone Fold will be equipped with a 5500mAh battery, making it the iPhone with the largest battery capacity to date. In comparison, the Chinese version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a battery capacity of 4823mAh.
It is reported that in order to keep the phone’s thickness in mind, Apple’s first foldable screen will use silicon-carbon anode battery technology, which involves doping silicon elements into the anode material of the phone battery to increase the battery’s energy density and increase battery capacity without increasing the battery’s size.
In terms of hardware configuration, the iPhone Fold has an inner screen size of approximately 7.8 inches, using an LTPO OLED panel exclusively supplied by Samsung, supporting a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, and a screen ratio of approximately 4:3. The outer screen is approximately 5.3 inches, which is suitable for one-handed operation. It does not support Face ID, but it does support side fingerprint recognition. It has a rear 48-megapixel dual camera and is the first to use the A20 Pro chip.
Finally, regarding the pricing that everyone is concerned about, JPMorgan Chase predicts that the base model of the iPhone Fold will be priced at $1,999 (approximately RMB 13,900), while the high-end version may exceed $2,500, making it the most expensive iPhone in Apple’s history.
