vivo launches Y50s 5G and Y50e 5G with 6,000 mAh battery and Dimensity 6300 chipset

Vivo has recently introduced two new budget friendly 5G smartphones in China called the Y50s 5G and the Y50e 5G. The two phones look identical in terms of design and also share most of their key specifications. The phones have already gone on sale and are available for buyers in China.

The vivo Y50s 5G and Y50e 5G are driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor for everyday performance. They come with a large 6.74 inch flat LCD screen on the front, which delivers a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The screen offers HD+ resolution along with a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits.

At the back, the two phones feature a 13MP main camera, supported by an infrared sensor and an LED flash. The camera module also include a breathing ring light for added visual effect. On the front, the devices offer a 5MP selfie camera placed with in a water drop notch for video calling and self-portraits.

Both the vivo Y50s and Y50e are equipped with large 6,000mAh batteries for long lasting usage. Despite having identical batteries the Y50s offers faster 44W charging support whereas the Y50e only supports up to 15W charging.

Other notable features of the phones include an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance and a side mounted fingerprint scanner for security. They come with dual SIM support and offer connectivity options such as 5G, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The devices run on Android 15 based OriginOS 5, measure 8.19mm in thickness and weigh around 204 grams.

The sole difference between the Y50s and Y50e is in their storage. The vivo Y50s is equipped with faster UFS 2.2 storage while the Y50e comes with eMMC 5.1 storage which is a bit slower.

As for pricing, the vivo Y50s 5G is available starting at CNY 1,799 (around $260) for the 6GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. If you want more memory, the 8GB/256GB version is available for CNY 1,999 ($285) while the 12GB/256GB option comes at CNY 2,299 ($330).

On the other hand, the vivo Y50e 5G comes in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, priced at CNY 1,499 (around $215). Both the Y50s and Y50e are available in three color options: Diamond, Platinum and Sky Blue.
