vivo X Fold6 officially announced for June release: debuting with OriginOS 6 Fold system

vivo officially announced today that the new generation foldable screen vivo X Fold6 will be released this month, and will be the first to launch with the OriginOS 6 Fold system.

vivo executive Huang Tao wrote that vivo believes the first evolution of foldable phones in the past few years was essentially about unfolding a large screen, while Agent Phone has brought a clear insight— the second evolution of foldable phones is from unfolding a large screen to unfolding a large task.

Huang Tao stated that while foldable screens are continuously being optimized in terms of hardware aspects such as thinness, creases, battery life, imaging, and reliability, there are still common pain points in the industry: most products only enlarge the screen and still follow the traditional “one screen, one application” usage logic, failing to create exclusive scenarios that users cannot live without, and are more like “larger phones”.

For example, during online meetings, we need to open the meeting software, WeChat, historical files, and the meeting assistant simultaneously. Traditional mobile phones can only switch between apps constantly, making the whole process fragmented.

In line with the industry trend of Agent Phone development, future mobile interaction will shift from being App-centric to being Task-flow-centric, which has also become the next research and development direction for vivo’s foldable screen.

Previously, the Atomic Workbench on the vivo X Fold5 had already implemented this concept. It is not just a simple split screen; it can integrate multiple applications into the same interface for collaborative operation. It can also save exclusive task combinations such as meetings, travel, and investments, and quickly activate them with one click. This feature has also received a lot of positive feedback from users.

With the popularization of AI technology, vivo has further expanded the user experience, allowing AI to no longer be limited to a single question and answer, but to reside in the background and work in collaboration with multiple applications to help users complete complex tasks throughout the process.

The upcoming vivo X Fold6 will be equipped with the OriginOS 6 Fold customized system, upgrading features such as the Atomic Workbench, AI Assistant, and dual-device collaboration, while enhancing on-device AI capabilities and interactive experience.

To support the simultaneous operation of multiple applications and AI, the new device has also undergone a deep reconstruction of the system’s underlying structure, chip scheduling, and multi-task logic, aiming to create a mobile terminal with a top-notch AI experience.
