Xiaomi has officially revealed the details of its next global launch event. The company will hold the presentation in Barcelona on February 28 at 2 PM local time just ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC). The start time corresponds to 3 PM in Eastern Europe, 1 PM in the UK, 6:30 PM in India, 5 AM in California and 8 AM in New York. Notably this announcement confirms the accuracy of a recent rumor that had pointed to the same date and venue.
If you take a look at the embedded post shared on X, you’ll notice the tagline reads “The New Wave of Imagery is arriving”. This wording strongly suggests that photography will be a central focus of the presentation making it highly likely that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will make its global debut during the event.
The standard or “vanilla” Xiaomi 17 is also rumored to appear alongside the Ultra variant. The company is also said to be preparing the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, the Xiaomi Tag and the Xiaomi Watch 5 for the same stage. That said there’s been no word on a global rollout for the Xiaomi 17 Pro or the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. At this point they appear set to remain China only devices, complete with their rear display.
Recent rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will carry the same price tags as their predecessors at least in the European market. In terms of specifications the global models are expected to mirror their Chinese counterparts almost entirely with the only notable exception being battery capacity. The Xiaomi 17 may pack a 6,330 mAh battery globally instead of the 7,000 mAh unit found in China, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could ship with a 6,000 mAh battery rather than the 6,800 mAh version available in its home market.
