According to the latest industry leaks, Xiaomi’s Surge OS 4 system will be officially launched in the second half of this year, and the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 will be the first device to come pre-installed with Surge OS 4.
As the most significant annual iteration since the release of Surge OS, the biggest highlight of Surge OS 4 is the deep integration of AI agents across the entire system. This means that Xiaomi no longer limits AI functionality to a separate voice assistant entry point, but directly embeds AI capabilities into the underlying operating logic of the system, fully integrating them into every aspect of daily operations.
Leaks indicate that Xiaomi has integrated AI capabilities into almost all of its core applications, including Mi Notes, Photo Album, File Manager, Voice Recorder, Browser, and Calendar. This integrated AI can accurately understand complex user commands, allowing users to speak a single sentence to automatically trigger multi-step tasks across multiple applications, eliminating the need for navigating between apps and making repetitive settings.
A tech blogger also revealed that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5, as a top-tier foldable flagship, is naturally the best platform for implementing this full-scenario AI interaction system. Leveraging the advantage of its extra-large inner screen when unfolded, the AI agent’s multitasking capabilities and simultaneous display of multiple contents will allow this device to demonstrate significantly greater advantages than ordinary flat-screen models.
In addition, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 will be the first to be equipped with the Xuanjie O3 chip. This chip is built using TSMC’s 3nm process and its overall performance is close to that of Qualcomm’s flagship chip Snapdragon 8E5. It is also Xiaomi’s most powerful self-developed chip, and its computing power can fully support the smooth operation of AI agents in all scenarios for a long time.
