Google decided to move forward providing the Nexus users with monthly security updates, and its time for the April 16 release. The firmware images have already been posted on Google’s developer portal and are ready to be downloaded. However, like always if you flash a clean image you will loose all your data, apps, call logs etc. Various nexus devices including some well aged tablets are up for this security patch, we have listed them below.
Nexus 6P and 5X are on Android 6.0.1, build “MHC19Q” while the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 (LTE), Nexus 7 (2013, LTE), and Nexus 5 are getting “MMB29X.” The Nexus Player, Nexus 9 (WiFi), and Nexus 7 (2013, WiF) are getting “MOB30D.” In addition, the Nexus 10 is seeing Android 5.1.1 “LMY49J.”
We suggest to wait for an OTA (over the air) update, as it allows you to keep all your device data. If you still wish to go ahead with flashing a factory image then you can grab one for your specific nexus device from our Firmware section.
