Fang Fei, the creator of the world’s first robot phone, talks about Honor’s ROBOT PHONE

Fast Technology reported that the world’s first robot phone, the Honor ROBOT PHONE, was officially unveiled at the Honor Magic8 series launch event.

This new product features a hidden robotic arm gimbal that can be deployed with a single button, enabling fully automatic composition, target tracking, and high-specification image stabilization.

It possesses a powerful AI brain, capable of understanding everything anytime, anywhere; it has the super mobility of a robot, accompanying you to share every moment of life; and it can even become your personal camera, keenly capturing every precious and loving moment.

According to Jiemian News, Fang Fei, president of Honor’s product line, recently elaborated on Honor’s vision for the ROBOT PHONE in an exclusive interview.

She stated that the terminal should be the brain of AI, the entry point to the scene, and the most important extension of the device for perceiving the physical world. It should have both perception and action capabilities. Cameras happen to have perception capabilities, but they do not have action capabilities, while gimbals are a good carrier for this.

Therefore, Honor came up with this idea: it can take photos and also has the ability to move around, enabling interaction with users.

Fang Fei emphasized that the focus of ROBOT PHONE is not simply the gimbal camera, nor is it a concept phone made for fun. Rather, it is an exploration of the boundaries of mobile phone form factors, or a prediction of the decisive factors for the next stage of smart terminals.

This device is one of the results of Honor’s engineering and AI capabilities spilling over, but it is not the end point. The related technologies are expected to be extended to more products in the future.

It is understood that the Honor ROBOT PHONE is equipped with the on-device large model YOYO, which has emotional perception capabilities, can proactively care for and recommend content, and coordinate all ecosystem devices, becoming the user’s personal butler and creative partner.
