Galaxy S24+ Appears on Geekbench with Exynos Chip

Samsung has stirred mixed emotions among fans with the latest Geekbench listing for the Galaxy S24+. The benchmark reveals the device is powered by an Exynos chip, leaving many Snapdragon enthusiasts disappointed. This development dashes hopes fueled by rumors suggesting the entire Galaxy S25 lineup might feature Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip across all markets.

Recurring Snapdragon vs. Exynos Debate

Year after year, speculation circulates about Samsung phasing out Exynos processors in favor of Snapdragon chips for all Galaxy S models. Yet, these whispers rarely see the light of day. The main hurdle seems to be the cost—Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line, particularly the Snapdragon 8 Elite, delivers unparalleled performance, but that superiority comes with a hefty price tag. For Samsung, this premium makes relying exclusively on Qualcomm chips a challenging financial proposition.

Why Stick with Exynos?

Samsung’s decision to continue using Exynos processors in certain markets appears to be part of a cost-management strategy. Exynos chips, manufactured in-house, offer the company greater control over production costs and supply chains. However, the gap in performance between Exynos and Snapdragon processors often spurs disappointment among users in regions where Exynos variants are sold.

Could MediaTek Be an Option?

While Qualcomm remains a key partner, Samsung is reportedly exploring alternatives like MediaTek’s Dimensity processors. These chips provide a cost-effective solution and have shown considerable improvements in recent years. However, whether MediaTek chips could fully replace Exynos in Samsung’s lineup remains unclear.

What’s Next?

For now, the Galaxy S24+ continues the tradition of a split processor lineup, with some regions receiving Exynos-powered devices. Whether this changes in future generations remains to be seen. Fans hoping for a universal Snapdragon approach may have to wait a little longer—or look to alternatives like MediaTek—for a different kind of balance between performance and pricing.

This latest development will surely reignite debates within the Samsung fan community, as the battle between Exynos and Snapdragon continues to divide opinions. Stay tuned as updates on Samsung’s chip strategy unfold.
