HTC Nexus Marlin & Sailfish won’t be alike in terms of build materials

For the past few days, several nexus related rumors have surfaced. The specs related to the two upcoming smartphones have been revealed, along with which a supposed image showcasing the front of device has come up and lastly the 3D renders from just a few hours ago. The sources of all these rumors are solid for the most part, however we may have something to add.

A difference in Build Materials

After constantly trying to get our hands on some inside information, we can now confirm one thing. According to a leak originating from the manufacturing division of HTC itself, the Nexus Marlin (M1) and Sailfish (S1) will be built with different materials. As one can guess Marlin will be treated with the same metal quality as that of the HTC 10, so an all metal design. While the Sailfish will be using the combination of plastic and metal, the frame will be made of metal while the body will be using a soft plastic built as seen on the Desire line of smartphones from the Taiwanese manufacturer. The step is essentially a unsurprising one, using poly-carbonate (plastic) will help HTC to lower the cost of Sailfish, which is expected to be priced on the cheaper side (still above 350$ though). As for the 3d Render from earlier today, we aren’t too sure and still put our trust on the one from AndroidPolice a few weeks ago.
